Since her arrival in Nigeria last month, the London-based chanteuse and lyricist, Scarlet Gabriel, has been reveling in her triumph with her latest track, "Cash Out."
The artist, who unveiled the single on June 21 in a collaboration with Afrobeats luminary Rayce and Black Wall Street's Big Suni, recounted her sojourn to Nigeria as a whirlwind of delight.
"I'm having an super time in Nigeria, and I'm thrilled to finally witness the land of so many of my friends. Nigeria is a place we hear about incessantly in the UK, so it's phenomenal to be here," she remarked with palpable excitement.
Renowned for her formidable vocals and electrifying stage persona, Scarlet draws inspiration from her rich tapestry of African, Caribbean, and global musical influences. She describes her musical oeuvre as eclectic, a celebration of diversity that retains her distinctive touch characterized by intricate harmonies and unfiltered expression.
Beyond her musical prowess, Scarlet is also lauded for her roles in premier West End and Broadway productions such as "Kinky Boots," "Ghost," "Mamma Mia! The Party," "Six," and "Waitress." Her extensive touring has whisked her to distant locales including Italy, Belgium, Romania, China, the South Pacific Islands, and Australia. Additionally, Scarlet has graced television screens across all major UK networks, including BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, as well as SKY1 and MTV Base.
During the Ileya weekend, Scarlet delivered consecutive performances at Big Suni's birthday celebration in Abuja. According to the artist, the reception to her performances at the Abuja hotspots was phenomenal. "Everyone was on their feet, dancing, smiling, and clapping to 'Cash Out' along with other songs I composed while in Nigeria. Everyone kept dancing as if they had heard the songs before; it was a profoundly special moment for me," she enthused.
Regarding her aspirations for "Cash Out," for which the video has recently been filmed, Scarlet stated, "I consider everyone embraces the song, adds it to their party playlists, and streams it incessantly. I also hope DJs continue to spin it in the clubs, and that people find joy in both the song and the video."
Having just completed a collaboration with YoYo Ovi, the UK-based entertainer is now eager for more performances and partnerships with Nigerian musicians. "My Nigerian experience has been phenomenal, and I would absolutely love to continue collaborating with talented Nigerian artists as well as introducing their voices to my UK fan base. I would be elated to be invited back to Nigeria to perform and perhaps embark on an African tour."
